Apologies for anyone experiancing problems with the website over the last couple of days, this was due to things beyond my control.

On behalf of everyone at Benwick Athletic I would like to congratulate Sam Shaw and Darren Herbert on completing their Level 1 Coaching Award.

Also our best wishes go to Greg Hoffman, Laura Beard and Charlie Bradshaw whilst undertaking their Level 2 Coaching Award.

James Bradshaw also undertook the Level 3 "UEFA B" Coaching Exams this weekend, not an easy one to pass but one we are confident in which he will succeed

Good luck to all of you. We know you can do it and as soon as the results are in they will be announced.

Whilst on the subject of courses the Club would like to pass on our thanks towards Nick Streets and Tom Browne, two of our younger referees who turn out week after week for the club and do an excellant job in taking control of their matches.

All of these are part of the present and the future in keeping Benwick Athletic the club it has developed into from it's humble beginnings in 1936.

In the Management Meeting of the Peterborough & District League on 6th February it has been stated that the Senior team have once more won an award.

This time it is for for Sportsmanship Team of the Month January 2008

According to the online dictionary Wilkipedia - Sportmanship is as such

"Sportsmanship is, in a basic sense, conforming to the rules of sport. This is a term called etiquicy. More grandly it may be considered the ethos of sport. It is interesting that the motivation for sport is often an elusive element. Sportsmanship expresses an aspiration or ethos that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors."

Congratulations to all involved with gaining this award as it is after all a TEAM EFFORT.

Congratulations to the Senior side for earning a point against the league leaders, Eye who had won 14, drawn 0 and lost 2 games this season up to this game.

Some say that Andy was away and the pressure was off but whatever the reason the Senior team under the guidance of Craig obtained a very creditable 3-3 draw, and his first management point.

2 Own goals and a goal from J Bradshaw confirmed that these lads are good enough to pressure the top boys enough to rattle them.

Well done boys - keep up the hard work and keep showing everyone that this season is just a mere stepping stone to success.

Benwick Atletic are pleased to announce the visit of Tessa Payne,FA’s Eastern Region Coach Development Manager.

Tessa is the FA Regional Coach Development Manager for 5 to 11 year olds.  She holds the UEFA ‘B’ coaching license and has a wealth of experience in the profession both as a player and as a coach.
She has worked with the FA for a number of years and also worked at the David Beckham Academy and has been involved in the Arsenal Girls Centre of Excellence and the national youth set up.
Tessa will be coaching Benwick Athletic’s Under 11’s.  Coaches are invited to observe the session and there will be an opportunity for a question and answer session with Tessa from 7.30 -8pm.

The U11's will be playing Leverington on SUNDAY
